Hello there followers and fans of Cloned Cube! It’s cubis here and I’ve got some great news about the mod, I’ve hit the next milestone in development. Alpha .3. While this is a small update, a number of bugs have been fixed in cc_1 along with a few major additions since the Alpha .2 release. In addition I’ve tested this update thoroughly so it should work without any hitches like last time.
Rather than reiterate over what has been fixed and changed, I’ll give you the chance to see for yourself. You can download the latest version in a .7z file below.
If the download hasn’t been authorized quite yet, you can also download it on Github right now.
If you are worried about a lack of content with this update, don’t be. I have several more maps that I’ve been working on myself and plan to release in the next update. In the next update things will be completely different with the introduction of the Training Center.
Heads up to Cloned Cube fans, I’ve been really busy with track lately among other things so I haven’t been working on it much this month. But, I will upload a podcast episode on Monday like usual and will work on the mod over the weekend. Hopefully I’ll be able to release CC Alpha .3 soon.
The latest GMOD update in a nutshell.
Innovative new technology deployed across Steam store
August 17, 2012—Valve, creators of best-selling game franchises (such as Ricochet) and leading technologies (such as Steam and Source), today announced the launch of Volume Control, a major improvement to video playback in the Steam store.
After two years, and six teams of engineers, Valve has added the ability for gamers to control audio volume of videos within the Steam store. As of today, all video players within the Steam store now have an intuitively-designed slider to let customers adjust their preferred level of audio while watching trailers, teasers, and short films.
“This is literally the most significant development in video playback technology on Steam since we added [Adobe] Flash movies years ago,” said Julius Willmott at Valve. “We finally had to form a special task force to address this long-standing feature, as it clearly wasn’t going to build itself. We’ve play-tested the feature with multiple focus groups and think we’ve finally hit on a winning combination of usability and sleekness.”
In addition to the volume slider, Valve has added subtle yet important gradients to both the video loading bar and the video playback progress bar.

Valve, such jokesters!
Well, MvM launched yesterday and today the final post update to the new Steam Community update has been published.
Now we’ve got:
Game Hubs are collections of game-centric discussions, workshop items, screenshots, videos, and news. It’s both community created and official content, as rated by you, Steam users.
Since The Community first launched, Steam gamers have created over 2.5 Million groups, bringing together their friends and other like-minded gamers to talk about their common interests. Whether these groups were associated with a particular game or were just made up of friends who wanted to play together, we’re making it even easier for those players to share and enjoy their gaming experiences.
My Content Updates
The content you’ve published will also get a new treatment. We’ve put all the content you’ve created in one convenient place to make it easier to both show off and manage. This goes for all your friends and people you follow as well.
We’ve broken out your Friends from the larger Community and each now have their own areas in Steam. Community is now about the entire Steam Community and it’s where Game Hubs, Steam Workshop, and Steam Greenlight will live. Friends is now simply all about you and your friends.
So, on the website it says that the beta is starting now and that the first 50,000 people who got the Pillar of the Steam Community badge at the Summer sale will get 2 beta invites.
Hopefully it will be out of beta soon since it looks awesome!

Hey everyone, it’s been kind of quiet here so I’d like to report on some news about the mod.
Remember that Music Contest I did a while back? Well, it turns out I had a lot of applicants. There was lots and lots of talented people with fancy degrees and experience. Really, the turnout was incredible. At the end of the day, I chose a guy named Hyphellux. I really enjoyed his music and now he is actively composing new tracks for Cloned Cube. We have 3 so far!
The songs are free to download and share as long as you give proper credit. So, they are ingame and sound great!
I know that I have been very Valve-y with unfulfilled release dates such as the laughably ridiculous original finish time I put as Winter 2011 to my constant posts on my Tumblr about the mod coming out this week, maybe next week, O.K. I better delete that post before anyone gets their hopes up! Well, I can confidently say that cc_1 is very much finished and will be released soon.
What this Update Will Include
I know it sounds really stupid to just have cc_1 but here is some bigger news, I’m scrapping cc_2.Eventually I realized what a ridiculous mess that map was and am going to rebuild it to be more portal-y and more puzzling. Also in the next update includes the Aperture Science Cloning Training Center which teaches new players the basics and stops Cloned Cube from turning into Portal where half the game is teaching the player the mechanics.
The Next Update
Cloned Cube Alpha .3 will most likely include:
- The Cloning Training Center
- And possibly cc_2
This Summer is the Summer of Cloned Cube and I’m at the helm!
Also check out my Portal 2 Puzzle Editor Maps!
Seriously, I am under a ton of pressure to release the next Cloned Cube Update!
Please, just check on the ModDB! I promise that it’s coming soon and I have pics to prove it! Just, it is eating away at me! Gotta release it.
